Because exercise tests have been performed on patients who had absolute contraindications based on the ATS-ACCP guidelines (Am J Respir Crit Care Med Vol 167. pp 211–277, 2003), the attached table should be used as a reference on who can/cannot have a cardiopulmonary exercise test.
