Central venous line removal with SecurAcath clamp

(Originally posted on: May 18, 2018

We have recently seen the use of a central line securement device called SecurAcath in patients who were transferred to us from an outside hospital.

The key information that needs to be distributed to staff is that these lines have special removal instructions. Staff need to be aware of these removal instructions as they differ from typical removal of central lines.

Attached are the securAcath_brochure and instructions for removal

The way to get tipped off that a patient has one of these lines is to look for the ORANGE clamp that secures it.  The orange clamp is embedded under the skin and apparently difficult to remove if you do not know how to do it.

Additionally, there is an informational video at securecath.com.

The reps name for any further questions is Matt Gibson @ 270-577-6159.
