There are now a core group of critical care physicians comprising ECMO rounding staff.

These individuals will be primarily managing these patients with the critical care fellow and resident/APP as part of a ECMO Care Team (ECT).

The process was started on 1/21/2019; the details are in this attachment.

When the Team is needed, the caller will dial 16-3030.  This call will ring on the Emergency line.
The caller will identify the call as being an ECMO Care Team (ECT) call.

Procedure

1. Record Information: Caller’s Name, Call-back Number, Location, Patient’s Name/MRN
2. Using the Pulmonary ECMO On-Call schedule the operator will call the physician’s cell phone and relay the information:
   1. Call the Physician listed as First Call: Relay the Information
   2. If the cell phone goes to voice mail: Leave Message
3. If no call-back in 10 minutes
   1. Again, call the cell phone of the physician listed as First Call
   2. When the Physician returns call: Relay the Information
4. If no call-back in 10 minutes
   3. Call Dr. Gardner-Gray – number in HFMG App
5. If no call back in 10 minutes, repeat process beginning with the First Call Physician
