Here is a recent update on the attestation for staff. Currently MS3 notes are not billable and MS4 notes can be billed. Given the change in schedule best to ask what year the student is as there can be a mix of MS3s and 4s.
MS3 inpatient notes:
- Note TYPE: “Medical/APP Student Note”
- Currently not billable
- Staff attestation: .medicalstudenteducationalnote.
- Residents and Staff should review with student
MS4 inpatient notes (Sub-Interns, MICU):
- Note TYPE: “Progress note”, “Consult note” or “H&P”
- Notes are billable for the following services: GPU sub-I (including F2), MICU, Pulmonary Consults.
- A resident/fellow must be present with the student during their examination of the patient. The last line of the student template includes a spot for the student to document the name of the resident.
