Michigan CME (Human Trafficking, Medical Ethics, Opiate Prescribing)

(Originally posted on: September 8, 2017

All physicians need to be aware that re-licensing in Michigan have new requirements.

Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs announced new requirements for CME, effective January 2018, which include:

  1. One-time training for Identifying Victims of Human Trafficking
  2. A minimum of 3 hours of continuing education in the area of pain and symptoms management
  3. A minimum of one hour of continuing education in the area of medical ethics

Henry Ford Health System is likely going to put together resources to do this, however, if they are not in place by January 2018, physicians may have to look elsewhere to get the CME credits.

One place to look is the Michigan State Medical Society Website
