As many insurance companies now allow telephone E&M codes to be billed as office visits, Epic code choices will be will be updated on Monday 6/15 to reflect the change.
- An expanded code set will be available in the LOS options in Epic:
- New Patients Telephone Visits: 9NTP1-5.
- Established Patients Telephone Visits: 9ETP2-5.
- Coding guidelines to choose these codes will mirror those of video visits. Providers will be able to choose the appropriate level of service based on medical decision making or total time on the date of encounter (see link to tip sheet below).
- Insurances that do not allow these new codes will be reviewed in a WQ and converted to telephone E&M codes (9TH41-43).
- Old custom telephone E&M codes (9TH41-43) will be removed from charge capture/LOS on 6/22.
- Reminder: HCCs can be captured by video visits but not telephone E&M visits.
